EMPublisher is an in-house desktop application operated by Extended Media. We use it to publish video content that we produce for our clients to their own social media channels.
What it does
- Watches one folder per client on Extended Media’s production computer for finished video files.
- Lets our editor enter the title, description and publishing options for each video, and choose which of the client’s connected platforms it goes to.
- Uploads the video to the client’s YouTube channel, using the YouTube API Services, only after the client has authorised EMPublisher through Google’s standard consent screen, and only when our editor presses Publish for that video.
- Publishes the video to the client’s Facebook Page, and short vertical videos to the client’s Instagram professional account, using the Meta Graph API, only after access to that Page has been granted through Facebook Login for Business by a person who manages it, and only when our editor presses Publish.
Who can use it
Extended Media provides this publishing as part of its paid video production service to several business clients. EMPublisher is not sold, distributed or offered as a public service. It runs only on Extended Media’s own computer. Clients do not install anything: a client grants access to their channel once, and can withdraw that access at any time (see the privacy policy).
Platforms
Videos are published to the client’s YouTube channel, Facebook Page (videos and Reels) and Instagram professional account (Reels).
